Tips For Adventure Travelers

Posted by LA Hunter on November 12th, 2009

Adventure TravelWhen you have decided to take an adventure travel vacation, it’s time to do some research and make a few plans, so that you are able to deal with any unforeseen circumstances that may crop up. When you are out of reach of your home zone you must be prepared to cope with adverse weather conditions, breakdowns, accidents or medical emergencies, otherwise your adventure could turn into a nightmare.

If you are going to travel overseas, make yourself aware of any rules and regulations pertaining to tourists that apply in the countries you intend to visit. Also steer clear of any country that is experiencing political unrest or rebel groups that are carrying out terrorist activities. This type of information can be obtained from the country’s embassy. Your travel agent will advise you on visa requirements, make sure that you get contact details for your country’s embassy in the countries that you are traveling through, in case you need assistance.

The adventure travel activities that are the most exciting can be extremely dangerous, so make sure that you have access to a substantial first aid kit and have adequate offshore medical insurance that will cover the major share of any medical or hospital costs that you may incur while overseas. Medical costs can be financially crippling if you are not covered by a comprehensive medical insurance policy.

If you need to take prescription medication, as many people do, get a written authorization from your doctor before leaving home and keep it with you during your travels. Anti drug laws are quite severe, even extreme, in certain countries, and your prescription drugs could be illegal in those countries. Don’t mess with recreational drugs in other countries, because being a foreigner you are vulnerable, and the risk of prosecution is not worth the reward.

Most of all, when you are on your journey or in another land, make common sense prevail. Don’t take unnecessary risks, get along with the locals and abide by their laws and customs. Take good care of your travel documents. Stolen passports and credit cards are in great demand, and identity theft is becoming ever more common, so don’t let your personal documents out of your sight. Be wary of street vendors, hawkers and pick pockets. When going out at night it is best to go with a group, stay in well lighted areas and keep away from dubious venues.

Adventure Travel Overseas

Posted by LA Hunter on November 9th, 2009

Rafting AdventureWhen planning an adventure travel vacation, why not consider visiting an overseas destination?

Overseas adventures can be really exciting and, depending on your choice of destination, quite affordable. Before deciding on which part of the world you would like to visit, it is a good idea to do some research in order to find a destination that best suits your needs.

The best way to explore the world is, of course, through the Internet. There are many travel orientated websites on the net that will provide you with up to the minute information on places, people and activities that are just waiting to be explored any place on earth that you may care to visit. The Internet also has lists of overseas tourist companies that will be only too happy to make travel and accommodation arrangements for you. Tour guides, adventure travel requisites and travel companions can also be reached through the Internet.

Because you want your adventure travel holiday to be exciting, rewarding and memorable, then you owe it to yourself to spend as much time as you can visiting travel websites, to see what options are available, the type of countryside, the weather, the activities and most importantly, the excitement level of the tour experience. Knowledge gleaned from the Internet before you embark on an adventure travel tour will stand you in good stead when you reach your destination.

Make sure that you select a reputable travel agent or tour company before making any bookings, you may be able to do this by making enquiries on internet forums or business directories. Most travel agents can provide a selection of packaged tours that supply fares and accommodation tariffs at a reduced rate, because of their bulk order ticketing system.

A reputable overseas adventure travel company can arrange all the details for you, so that you will experience the experience of a lifetime. You will be able to choose from many exciting activities like trekking, mountain climbing, bungee jumping, rafting, diving or skiing. Maybe you will enjoy splendid scenery, take photos, visit galleries, take part in festivals, or venture into isolated rain forests.

The world has so much to offer an adventure traveller or thrill seeker, you just need to take the time to search for that certain place that will reward you with an exciting and memorable vacation.

Australian Great Barrier Reef a Natural Wonder

Posted by Oze Parrot on November 27th, 2007

Reef FlowersThe largest coral reef system in the world extends for 2,600 kilometers through the balmy waters of the Coral Sea, just off the north east coast of Australia. This magnificent wonder of the modern world has been fashioned by, and comprises of, billions upon billions of living coral polyps, which are actually microscopic organisms. The Great Barrier Reef occupies an area of about 344,000 square kilometers and is acclaimed as the world’s busiest marine life sanctuary because of it’s diverse population of living creatures.

The great barrier Reef is listed as a world heritage site and a large portion of it is controlled by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, which protects the area from many human and environmental issues. Many endangered species, some of which, are natives of the area, lead a precarious existence on the reef. A large number of dugongs also inhabit the area, and according to researchers… Read Full sory

Camel Trekking Adventure In Australia

Posted by Oze Parrot on October 20th, 2007

Trekking across harsh desert areas in the Center of Australia can be an awesome experience. Outback Australia is a treasure trove of native flora, fauna, captivating scenery and exciting challenges. Venturing into the Simpson desert is probably the most daring thing that many Camel Girladventure trekkers will ever do. The Simpson desert occupies about 200,000 square kilometres that comprise of parallel sand dunes, which can reach a height of twenty meters, salt flats and sandy clay pans. The area is one of the most remote locations on earth.

An adventurer can choose to explore the desert by using an air conditioned 4 wheel drive vehicle and, although it is not without certain elements of risk, it’s pretty easy. Wandering out there on foot is not feasible, because of the risk of getting lost and the amount of survival gear that has to be carried. A unique alternative is to trek the arid outback deserts of Australia by camel. There are many advantages to joining a camel caravan, all the gear is carried by camels, no pollution, no noisy motor vehicles, all meals supplied and kids of all ages are welcome… Read Full story
