European Destinations From
A London Base
I chose London as a Base for my European vacation as there are any number of airlines operating in and out of London, and for this reason, airfares to London and return are very reasonable compared to that of other European cities.
Also, it is very easy to Access Many European Destinations From A London Base. Mind you, staying in London is more expensive than many other European Destinations, but as there is an over abundance of hotels, restaurants, tours, and travel choices, one can find many affordable options that will suit any budget.
Of course, London itself is a European Destination for tourists, there are so many points of interest in and around the capital city of England that demand inspection.
Once suitable lodgings have been established, it is non stop sightseeing, London Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster and a trip down the river Thames.
Then, there are day trips to various Destinations in rural England. The English country side is a splendid sight to behold and there are points of interest to be found where ever you go.
Many of the English castles, that are dotted around the country, are open to the public, and regular guided tours are conducted. These tours are quite well attended, reasonably priced and give one an insight into the lifestyle of the medieval monarchs that once occupied them.
After seeing as much of London as I could in just one short week, I have armed myself with an Eurorail pass, as I intend to travel North by train to Scotland and Ireland, visiting as many places in the U.K. as possible.
Eurail or Eurorail, as it is commonly referred to, is a co-operation of 26 European Railway companies and shipping lines that provides a unique and economical means of touring the most popular European Destinations. Train travel is reliable, fun, and a good way to meet people. It is safe, more flexible than air travel and much more cost effective.
On my return to London, I will do some more one day tours of the rural areas before setting out across the channel with Eurorail to my next European Destination.
